About

Monarch Music

The monarch butterfly represents many things. Growth, transformation, strength.

At Monarch Music, we encourage our students to grow through music and explore the wonderfully expansive and limitless world of music.

Monarch Music is based in Winchelsea and we travel to Geelong/Surf Coast for music classes and tutoring. We take pride in making music fun and magical. With a heavily interactive approach, we aim to not only improve a student’s musical skills, but also their confidence.

Music is a way to explore and share who we really are with the world. Our creativity shines and our confidence in our individuality is strong.

We create just a little bit of magic when we make music, and we can’t wait to share this with you.

Our Values

Inclusivity

It’s important that every student feels welcome throughout their musical experience. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, young or old, Monarch Music is for you.

Growth

We aim to help our students grow as musicians and also as people. Seeking growth will help you to kick your music and personal goals.

Creativity

Not a single musician is the same, which is one of the coolest parts about music. There are so many styles, instruments and techniques and we will help you discover your own creativity in music.

About the Owner

Hi, my name is Abbey Geddes. I am the owner and sole teacher at Monarch Music. I am a singer, self-taught ukulelist/guitarist/pianist, music theory lover and an avid musical theatre fan.

Music has always been a part of my life in some form, but my musical journey really began in 2014, when I was 11. I started singing lessons and instantly fell in love with creating expressive characters and stories through songs. This led to me auditioning for my first musical a few months later. I landed my first role as ‘Chip’ in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and discovered my love for theatre.

Throughout the rest of my schooling, I completed multiple AMEB Vocal Exams, had a crack at songwriting and gained over 8 years of performance experience in countless settings.

In 2022, I decided it was time to share my passion for music with others. I originally wanted to be a classroom music teacher and then eventually this idea evolved into Monarch Music. I wanted to use my experience as a working musician to encourage other new performers to put themselves out there.

I wanted Monarch Music to be all about growth and transformation, as we should never stop striving to be the best versions of ourselves ♡
